David Earl Thompson

David Earl Thompson passed away on September 22, 2015, at the age of 50 after a long battle with cancer. David was born in Louisiana and raised in Satellite Beach, Florida. He graduated from Satellite High in 1982 and University of Florida in 1990. He was a true Gator! He moved to Fort Myers, Florida where he met and married Julie Tanner. For 23 years, they lived a wonderful life playing softball, fishing, boating, and raising their two beautiful children Wade, age 13, Saige, age 10. They were Dave's heart and soul. Dave was a devoted employee at Chemical Containers for more than 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Julie Thompson, children Wade and Saige Thompson, his mom and dad, Dixie and James Thompson, sisters, Robin Robb and Tina Sage, and his nieces and nephews. Services will be held at CLF 1200 SW 20th Avenue, Cape Coral, Florida 33991, on Sunday, October 4th, at 2:30 pm to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations that will be dispersed to patients of Florida Cancer to help those less fortunate pay for treatment that insurance does not cover. Should you wish to send flowers, call "Say It With Flowers" at 239-573-5252, they will make 1 delivery to CLF on Sunday.

We've only known Dave for about 12 years through business. He was our go to guy about spray equipment, if he didn't know it, no one did. Over the years I would like to think we became friends. At the trade shows we tried to have the red licorice that he liked so well. Within the last year or so we tried to supply him with soursop and moringa leaves to help him. We all at Hopkins Nursery will miss him greatly as I know many others will as well.

My children are younger and we would almost always talk about our kids. His family was his life, no doubt!!! Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I've had the privilege of knowing Dave for several years. Dave was a very generous, kind hearted and hard working man. He loved his family deeply and spoke of them always.
He often spoke to me about his many interests in life. He loved sports,fishing and the outdoors and will always and forever be a GATOR.
I enjoyed very much the little time we had together.
Id saddened me to hear the news today.
In his line of work Dave spread his happy aura wherever he went. He truly lightened my day.
I am happy to have met a good friend as Dave
and will miss him dearly.He had a Heart of Gold.
Thank you for the wonderful memories and the joyous time Dave. I will see you soon friend.

We only had the opportunity to meet Dave a little over a year ago. But it only took 30 seconds to notice his outpouring of love and compassion for others, especially the kids he coached. Dave was the first person to take our son, Marley, under his wing and guide him on a football field full of strangers. May God bless and stregthen Dave's family and friends. Dave, you are a good soul. One Love.

I met David and knew him for a short time but what I knew of him was all good a good man at heart and a loving husband to Julie . He worked hard and cared for all his family and wife. I have many fond memories of David. Grew up with him from Surfside elementary to Satellite High. Played Little League and we were on the wrestling team together at Satellite High. He was a great guy and a true competitor. Many prayers to his family and friends. He will be truly missed. God Bless!
