Dear Elaine & family, Ella Christiansen & Wilbur Christiansen and family,TUSEN TAKK FOR SHARING ASTRID!
It was a pleasure to meet Astrid & Hubert Mascoe and her sisters, Ragna Hovland, and Ella Christiansen & the Christiansen family when Emil and I joined the Sons of Norway. They were all a great help to the lodge. Astrid also came to church on the bus as long as she could after she moved into Cape Coral. I know she continued to worship at the Gulf Coast Village services. Oh, to be like Astrid at 100 and beyond should we live that long! I know the last few months were not easy for her. What a smile! What a pleasant personality! May the Lord Be With All of Her Family!

Johnny & I played music for Astrid's 103rd Birthday. We had the honor of sitting with her for a while to talk and find out her favoriate songs. She wanted to hear "Mocking Bird Hill" and "Don't Fince Me In". She told us she was allergic to Mango's that are so abundant on Pine Island but she ate a lot of "Fish". We always ask about her when we played at Gulf Coast Village. We will miss her.

Gosh, Bimi, it hardly seems possible you are not here...such a long life filled with so many memories. I cannot begin to imagine all the amazing things you witnessed in your more than a century. Living by yourself in Bokeelia and driving your little white Volvo well into your 90's. I am so glad I got to hear some of your stories when one day Debbie stopped by for a few minutes. You said you were just going to wait in the car. She convinced you to come in, and once you did, you sat down and stayed and stayed and talked and talked...you were so cute and interesting...you must have been inspired by our funny old house. I want to ask you a special favor now that you are with Kenny...after you hug him for all of us and tell him how much we miss him-especially John-I want you to slap him for me for being so silly and hard-headed, and tell him we are all still mad! Bimi, you and Kenny will live forever in our hearts.

I didn't know her, but her son Kenny and I were very close when I moved here in 2006. He spoke very fondly about her. My condolences to her family.

Ken should be here in some fashion...you'll be with him now

Dearest Bimi ~ Somehow, Florida will not be as bright without you! I have wonderful memories of visiting you from the very early days when Mom and I drove from Texas and I danced for you all in a grass skirt to laying my towel out in the sand spurs in Flamingo Bay to leaving the old airport with my "skin flapping" (Hubert's description of my tanning process!) to return home after a Bokeelia vacation. As the years passed, I didn't have quite as many adventures but the memories are just as sweet ~ bringing Rebecca to meet you when she was 9 months old, watching you be so irritated at Rick and Ken as they tried to ingratiate themselves back into your good graces after they had spent all day out 'sailing' with Uncle Paul and eating fresh grapefruit from your tree (as a result, I had to get a house with a grapefruit tree myself!). Your wonderful loving spirit and your strict beliefs of right and wrong will always be a touchstone for me and a little piece of you that will stay with me always. I'm glad we got to spend so much time together and I wish we had more. Remembering you brings a smile to my heart. Love, Debbie

Bimi - I loved being with you. We had many wonderful times together sharing the stories of the wonderful life you lived. I enjoyed the many meals we enjoyed together and was always amused by your great appetite and the joy you found in a simple sugar cube. I will always have a picture of you standing on the end of your Bokeelia dock in a pretty dress and purse in hand shouting "it's 4:30 and if we don't hurry we won't get a seat for dinner". For you, there will always be a seat! Love to you and to all the family - Rick
