WILLIAM BASANSKY Obituary

Dr. Bill Basansky, 78, of Fort Myers, Florida passed quietly from this life to the next at his home on September 9, 2010. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Beatrice; son, Eric, and his family of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and son, Jerry and his family of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Bill is also survived by his sister Linda Ninowski of Scottsdale, Arizona, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. Bill was born in Ukraine, a region of the former Soviet Union, and after the Nazi invasion was interred in concentrations camps until the end of World War II. He and his family were relocated to displaced persons camps until they were able to immigrate to the United States in 1949.
His love of his new homeland never waned. A student of his once said, "If Dr. Bill had a cut on his finger he would bleed red, white and blue."
As a naturalized US citizen, Dr. Bill served in the US Air Force, worked as a detective on the Oxnard, California police force and worked for his teaching credentials allowing him to teach German and Russian in the California public school system.

Although he had no formal education prior to his immigration, Dr. Bill earned his B.A. with honors from San Jose State College in San Jose, California, his M.A. from Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma and in 1978 his Ph. D. from Union University in California. While earning his M.A., he taught Russian at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dr. Bill and his wife, Bea, have traveled extensively throughout Eastern Europe, Central America and Africa teaching the Word of Faith. They have delivered millions of dollars worth of life-saving humanitarian and medical aid to emerging nations that were part of the former Soviet bloc. Dr. Bill established dozens of Bible colleges abroad and founded hundreds of churches where Christian congregations had been forbidden.

Dr. Bill and Bea settled in Fort Myers, Florida after years of ministry on the road and founded Love and Grace Fellowship where they served as pastors for 14 years.

Dr. Bill Basansky is the author of 13 books, works created to meet the needs of hurting people where he ministered. In his later years, Dr. Bill returned to the traveling ministry to be a help to hurting pastors throughout the United States, to preach the uncompromising Word of God wherever he was invited and to call America back to God.

A patriot, a godly man, a statesman, and a husband and father, Dr. Bill Basansky will be missed by those worldwide who knew him personally, who met him in his ministry and who were changed by reading his books.

Viewings are scheduled on Monday evening, September 13 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 14 from 2:00 until 3:30 PM at Life Church, 11735 Plantation Rd., Fort Myers, Florida.

What an honor it was to have known and worked with Dr. Basansky. His life was lived with honor and integrity. His life touched many with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

I would like to honor this man for being real. I was there at Cobo in Detroit helping during a FGBFI convention. After the service, when people are leaving and people are leaving he came down to where we were praying for people and said "this is my favorite part of the service, this is where the rubber meets the road" . He proceeded to demonstrate the power of the Spirit and I admired that he wasn't a phony he wasn't "all word"....his teaching was "not with enticing words of mans wisdom but had power and demonstration in the Spirit." He epitomised 1 cor 2: 4-6
He is missed

I honor this wonderful man of God. He is the one that I traveled to Ukraine for the first time with in 1998 and have been traveling there ever since. His integrity and dedication to sovereignty word of God was impeccable. You did not have to be concerned about him not being properly dressed. He was a statesman and an ambassador in the truest definition of the word !! His love for his wife Bea was precious . I wish we would´ve had more time. Love you & miss you,Dr. Bill. I salute you, sir, but I will see you again in eternity.

I met him as he was a guest minister at our then home church ; Christian Growth Center in ~ 1992. He was such a blessing . I told him every year that God was dealing with me about going to Ukraine, and finally around 1998, I told him it was time. I traveled extensively with Dr. Basansky around Ukraine and my life was impacted greatly as a result . He was a class act. I dearly love him.
I don´t have the works to describe how much I miss him. I look forward to seeing him in dermal glory as I have continued the work of ministry & humanitarian aid to Ukraine !

I would like to send a personal thank you to Dr. Bill Basansky for the personal ministry that he gave to me as a young pastor in 1981 and a small town of Lawton Oklahoma. During a time when I was trying to get ministries to come to minister to our city he returned the visit and came to our city and held a revival that blessed many people and helped me with my church . To my surprise one morning he asked me if I would come over to the hotel where there were tennis courts and play around of tennis with him. I did so but there were a lot more balls being chased than were being hit over the net. We had a wonderful time and his anointing truly rested upon his ministry to me May God's blessings be upon his family until we meet again ,thank you dear brother. Pastor Tim

The first time I heard Dr. Basansky preach was on November 23, 1986, the day I accepted Jesus as my Lord & Savior. Dr. Bill was "reading my mail" to the congregation, and I did not know how he knew so much about my messed up life. I praise God for this anointed man. I have learned so much & witnessed miracles through his ministry. His testimony was inspiring. I pray for Miss Bea & family, yet have to rejoice in Dr. Bill's home-going celebration. Forever grateful, Carla DeVincolis

Our family attended Love & Grace Fellowship in 1988-1990. Pastor Bill inspired, challenged and impacted our lives. He was an amazing man of God with an awesome testimony. My husband John played guitar in the band and our family was very involved in the church. He will be missed. Bea, you are in our thoughts/prayers. May the God of all comfort, comfort and strengthen. ? Norma, John, Betsaida and Iris Saez.

Read today of Pastor Basansky's going home. I owned J.C. and Co. Menswear in Tulsa and Pastor Bill used to get the most beautiful ties and suits from us in that he had impeccable taste in his apparel. His wonderful sense of humor brings back a smile as I remember our encounters. Dr. Hagin, Oral and Richard used to bring him in with Mrs. Basansky. Dr. Hagin introduced him to me as "Except for me, he is the next best dressed"!
I will always remember Pastor Bill as being one of the most gracious of our many pastors that we were honored to have enter our doors. I pray for his own family and church family and thank God for those that were touched by his ministry. God's Blessings to you all.

Dr. Bill touched me very much as a new christian a few years ago. When he came to teach I learned alot from him. He was so loving and kind to us as well. I rejoice as he has done so much for the Kingdom of God. Now, he is home and celebrating with our Lord! It is not easy to lose someone like him, but he is in the home that we are all waiting to be in. My thoughts and prayers go to Dr. Bill's beloved wife, Bea and all the family and friends.

Bea, your husband was a true righteous blessing to all of us whom he touched. He along with Brother Kenneth taught us to confess the word of God and live by it, and be blessed in our old age. Continue precious one to live long and finish strong. I doubt the building will be large enough to hold those who want to attend. We are still up in TN, hope to see you in December. We love you very much. We are cying for the loss to the kingdom of God on earth but, realize this is somewhere he longed to go as we all do. With this note we send big hugs to you and the family.
