BERNELL MAYHEW Obituary
Bernell Johnson Mayhew, 83, of 628 Highway View Road, Hurt, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at her residence.
Born Aug. 16, 1927, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Giles Johnson and Janie Saunders Johnson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Carol Mayhew. Mrs. Mayhew was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, and was a home maker.
She is survived by her husband of more than sixty-five years, George D. Mayhew Jr., of the residence; a daughter, Kim Waller and her husband, Gene, of Altavista; three brothers, Aubrey G. Johnson, of Chatham, Alvin M. Johnson, of Loudon Tenn., and Mack Johnson, of Gretna; two sisters, Eleanor J. Amos, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ann J. Roach, of Gretna; and a grandson, Chad Hogan, of Gretna.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Harold Thornton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence.
Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of arrangements.
