Roy Tucker Obituary
Tucker Sr.
Roy Kessler Tucker Sr. 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in Autumn Care Nursing & Rehab in Altavista.
Born April 26, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Terry Henry Tucker and Eunice Edmunds Tucker. He was predeceased by two brothers, Willie Tucker, and Clarence Tucker; and six sisters, Janie Fisher, Mabel Saunders, Irma Lewis, Ruth Power, Juanita Marr and Odell McDonald. Mr. Tucker was a former employee with Gulf Oil (Chevron). He was a Mason, and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by three sons, Roy K. (Jerry) Tucker Jr., of Hurt, Paul David Tucker, of Danville, and Samuel T. Tucker, of Gretna; two daughters, Gail L. Tucker, of Tampa, Fla., and Evelyn (June) Barbour, of Gretna; one sister, Eldean Scruggs, of Powhatan; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. Jack Barrett. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Colbert Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his daughter, Evelyn (June) Barbour, 2761 Marina Drive, Gretna.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Tunstall Fire and Rescue Department, P.O. Box 575, Danville, VA 24543, or to the Shriners Hospital for children.
