CHARLOTTE OSBORN Obituary
Charlotte Winifred Proffitt Osborn, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Fairmont Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Amherst County July 19, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Oscar M. Proffitt and Frances E. Jones Proffitt. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Oscar "Billy" Proffitt, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Leon William "Bill" Osborn, Jr.; a daughter, Mary Lena Winfrey Clark; a sister, Janice Proffitt Mays (the late George Rudell Mays); devoted friends, Wally and Shirley Carwile.
Charlotte was retired from Piedmont Airlines with 28 years of service.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Ascension Episcopal Church in Amherst, The Rev. Deacon Katharine B. Chase officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery with a reception held thereafter at the Proffitt ancestral home at 774 Flatwoods Rd., Amherst, VA 24521.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Episcopal Church, PO Box 810, Amherst, VA 24521, or to your local Humane Society.

I was the station mgr. for Piedmont in Lynchburg for several years on two different occacions and remember Charlotte to be one of our most reliable employees who never missed work and was always on time and courteous to all she dealt with. My wife Joyce and I had lunch with Charlotte and Bill several times in the last couple of years and always enjoyed talking with them. Our sympathy goes out to Bill and her many friends and family.

Bill, I have wonderful memories of the trip you and Charlotte and a group of us took to Russia back in the 80's. We had so much fun.
I first met Charlotte when she and Tommy were working together at the airport.
We will miss her.
