Edwin Earl Lucado

Edwin Earl Lucado, 92, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Eunice Godsey Lucado for almost 64 years.

Born in Appomattox County on May 9, 1919, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maude Morris Lucado. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Edwin served his country as a member of the US Army during World War II; he worked in sales for John E. Gannaway & Co. for almost 50 years and retired from Barker-Jennings Corporation. He was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church and was a practical man who loved to repair things and to help others.

In addition to his wife Eunice, Edwin is survived by two daughters, Cheryl L. Hartman and her husband, Edward Hale Hartman of York, Pennsylvania, and Karen L. Haynes of Lynchburg. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Bryan Edward Hartman and his wife, Annie of Glendale, Arizona, Joshua Hale Hartman of Richmond, and Amy Dawn Carderelli and her husband, Tony of Lynchburg; and three great grandchildren, Jackson Michael Francis, Beau Thomas Hartman, and Katherine Hale Hartman all of Glendale, Arizona.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2011, at Heritage Funeral Service.

A Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at West Lynchburg Baptist Church. Interment will be private.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to West Lynchburg Baptist Church, 3031 Memorial Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
