Jerry Austin Obituary

Jerry Louis Austin

Jerry Louis Austin, 60, of Gladys, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce Greenwell Austin.

He was born May 12, 1950, in Campbell County, a son of the late Margaret Evelyn Hawkins Austin and Kenneth Winfred Austin. He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, enjoyed woodworking, and was a self-employed small engine repairman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Larry Austin, and his wife, Wanda, of Gladys; two sisters, Agnes Mosebrook and her husband, Guy, of Epharta, Pa., and T.J. Austin, of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Janet Austin, of Brookneal; and a loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Austin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Sharon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Charlie Haley and Rev. Billy Swan, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 14, 2010, at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Gladys, and at other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Austin family, 7423 Lewis Ford Road, Gladys, VA 24554.
