Dear Tom,
I was so sorry to hear of Dot's passing. I am Ellen Harris' granddaughter & I remember you all fondly from the many Staples reunions in Evergreen. She was a very special lady & she will be missed. Even though you all hadn't been able to attend the reunion lately, we still remember you both fondly. You're in my thoughts & prayers.
Blessings,

Dear Tom,
When my mother told me about Dot's death, my heart ached for your loss, and the loss to the world of Dot's bright spirit. But I was also relieved that her earthly trials are over and that, as the Prayerbook puts it, "Thou art doing for her better things than we can desire or pray for." Together, the two of you were an amazing, inspiring example to all who were blessed to know you. "Dot 'n Tom" (all one word!) : a paragon of marriage, of faith, of choosing a life's work that brings beauty and grace and joy into being. When I think of Dot playing the organ at First Baptist for SIXTY YEARS, I am in awe. Her talent and commitment were extraordinary. How lucky I was to grow up in that church, to be shaped by the wonderful music of the organ and choir week after week. One bass voice in particular stands out...always there to anchor every piece. The fact that I now accompany choirs and play for services at Holy Family Church certainly has its roots in that Lynchburg / Leachman foundation. Not to be forgotten is the Sunday School class you both led for so many years; I know it meant the world to my mom. I pray that God's grace and peace will surround you in the coming days. I hope you will be consoled by an awareness of the tremendous gift you and Dot gave me, my mother and so many others by your great love...your love for each other, for the church, for your work and especially for Jesus. May He continue to hold you in the palm of His hand. With love and gratitude,

Dear Tom,
Dot was an amazing woman, always full of cheer and diligent in serving God, His church and His people. Her legacy and example are stellar.
Chuck and I remember you both at various CFO camps and your excellent leadership. You led creative Writing and Dot led the singing and Devotion in Motion. Dot will make a grand addition to heaven's choir where she will be able to praise God even more enthusastically than she did here on earth.
Love is eternal and you will always have her love.
We send our love and condolences to you.

So glad we got to see you and her before New Year. She was a bright star in so many lives. Heaven's gain will be earth's loss.
We grieve with you. We'll try to see you again soon.

Dear Tom,
I am so sorry to hear of Dot's death.
It is with fond and wonderful memories of both you and Dot as I was growing up in the First Baptist Church. Her playing the organ was something I always looked forward to when I visited Mother and Dad.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
