Eloise Williams Obituary

Eloise Moorman

Williams

Jan. 22, 195O -

Nov. 11, 2010

On Thursday morning, Nov. 11, 2010, Eloise Williams transitioned peacefully into eternal life at Lynchburg General Hospital. God gently whispered to our loved one, our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and friend, to come home and take her eternal rest.

At an early age, Eloise professed her love for Christ and joined the First Baptist Church in Altavista, where she served faithfully until her health failed. Eloise had a strong passion and love for children and she was extremely close with many of the children who lived in her community. Eloise was one of eight children born to the late Richard and Virginia Moorman, of Altavista. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Tevin Boone, one sister, Irene MacCutcheon, and three brothers, Richard

Moorman Jr., Charlie Moorman and William Moorman. She is survived by her devoted and loving sister, Margaret Burton, of Altavista, and two devoted brothers, Louis Moorman, of Dallas, Texas, and Oliver Moorman, of Altavista. She is also survived by seven sisters-in-law, Rose Moorman, of Dallas, Texas, Daisy Moorman and Betty Moorman, of Altavista, Sarah Williams, Ida Williams, and Margie Parrott, of Baltimore, Md., and Hazel Burney, of Ivanhoe, N.C.; and two brothers-in-law, James Parrott, of Baltimore, Md., and Henry Burney, of Ivanhoe, N.C.

Eloise was educated in the public schools of Campbell County, and she graduated in 1968 from Campbell County High School. After graduating from high school, she married Donald, the love of her life. In 1996, Eloise retired from Abbott Laboratories after 22 years of service.

In 1968, Eloise and Donald united in holy matrimony and, thereafter, resided in Altavista, surrounded by family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, her five children, Angela Boone (Charles), of Hurt, Donald Williams Jr. (LaWanda), of Madison Heights, Tausha Jackson (Curtis), of Pittsburgh, Pa., Tonya Williams and Sheila Williams, of Altavista; seven grandchildren, Tyler Boone, Trevor Boone, Cameron Williams, Taylor Boone, Tristan Boone, Donice Williams and Donovan Williams; and an extended circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 12th & Franklin Ave. in Altavista, with Pastor James W. Brown as eulogist. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Hurt. The remains will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. The cortege will assemble at 1:15 p.m. at the residence, 1721 Eudora Lane, Altavista.

A private family viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010; a public viewing will follow from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cook & Minnis Funeral Home of Altavista. The family is receiving friends at the residence.

Donald, LaWanda and Family, we were deeply sadden by the news of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. For the Lord himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1Thes.4:16-17 Cherish the love, cherish the memories. Love, The Parrish's (Anthony, Trish, A.J., Bree & Miracle)
