Robert Arthur Cabler Sr.

Robert Arthur Cabler Sr. departed this life Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the Medical Care Center in Lynchburg. He was born in Campbell County on Sept. 15, 1933. He was the son of the late Edward and Bettie Lynch Cabler. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Matthew Cabler, Charles W. Cabler and Fred Cabler Sr.

Robert is survived by four daughters, Providencia Cabler, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dr. Kathy Ramona Franklin, of Rustburg, Vanessa Patillo (Danny), of Evington, and Joan Franklin (Jeffery), of Richmond; two sons, Carl Allen, of Lynchburg, and Robert A. Cabler Jr., of Rustburg; three sisters, Rosa Cabler, of Lynchburg, Lillian White and Marie Farmer (Lloyd), both of Evington; a brother, James Cabler, of Gladys; a sister-in-law, Julia Cabler, of Rustburg; an aunt, Naomi Lynch, of Evington; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a devoted niece and her husband, Cynthia and Watsie Martin; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Chapel Grove Baptist Church, Evington by the Rev. Russell Lee, with interment in the church cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. The cortege will assemble at 1:30 p.m. at the residence of Watsie and Cynthia Martin, 1195 Chapel Grove Road, Evington.
