Ruby Burks Obituary
MADISON HEIGHTS - Ruby Tyree Burks, 76, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at Fairmont Crossing Nursing Home. She was the wife of Carrington Wills Burk Jr.
Born Jan. 18, 1931, in Amherst County, she was a daughter of the late McKinley Abraham and Eva Gowen Tyree. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie, Leonard and Hugh Tyree; and a sister, Nesby Coffey.
She is also survived by three sons, Melvin Burks and wife, Angela, of Madison Heights, Edward Burks of Amherst and Michael Burks and wife, Wanda, of Madison Heights; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Peters officiating. Burial will follow in the Tyree Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Bethel Baptist Church. There will be no viewing or visitation at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200, Amherst, VA 24521.
Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst, 946-5529, is in charge of the arrangements.

To Carrington & Family,
We know that Ruby is with her Lord now. She was truly a wonderful person she touched all of our lives.
The time I spent teaching Sunday School with her was a blessing to me. I know you miss her Carrington but keep on keeping on for our Lord.
