Burwell Crews

Burwell Crews, 81, of Childrey Road, Nathalie, passed away Sunday,

Oct. 31, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Ellie Hines Crews.

Mr. Crews was born in Halifax County, Dec. 10, 1928, a son of the late James A. Crews and Lou Fannie Jones Crews. He was a lifelong member of Childrey Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army, former owner of Crews Market in Brookneal and a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Darrell Crews, and wife, Laura, of Nathalie; two daughters, Sharon Reynolds and husband, Roy, of Gladys, and Cynthia Milton and husband, Mike, of Aspen; two grandsons, Justin Reynolds and wife, Becky, of Gladys, and Jared Crews, of Nathalie;

a granddaughter, Maegan Crews, of Nathalie; one brother, Marvin Crews, of Gladys; and two sisters, Caroline Smith, of Gladys, and Inez Oakes, of South Boston. He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield, with interment and military rites at the grave to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal, and at other times at the residence.
