James Powers Obituary
James Douglas Powers, 78, of Bedford, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Bedford on Sept. 17, 1932, a son of the late James Clarence Powers and Fannie Weeks Powers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Carter Powers. He faithfully served his country for four years at sea in the Korean War. He is survived by his two daughters, Vicki Krantz and Toni Orange Chavez and husband, Rich; a grandson, Rodney Orange, and wife, Brandy; grandson, Courtney Krantz; great-grandchildren, Logan, Ashton, Darien and Christopher, and many other friends who loved and cared for him. A special thanks to Jim Dooley and Tasha McClure for being his chefs for the past year. A private family graveside was held for James. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
