Earl Tweedy Obituary

Paw Paw, 87, of Madison Heights, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at Fairmont Crossing Nursing Home in Amherst.
Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Clayton B. and Marion Cardwell Tweedy.
Paw Paw was a U.S Army veteran of World War II. He owned and operated 29 Market at the river for over 20 years and then worked for Markham Produce until August 2005. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Rustburg. Paw Paw was a giving and kind-hearted man. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone he came into contact with.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Olgesby, and Marie Nolan and one brother Herbert Tweedy all of Lynchburg.
Paw Paw is survived by his daughter, Jeanie Dalton and her husband, Ronnie, of Madison Heights; two brothers, Marvin C. Tweedy and wife, Mary Frances, of Lynchburg and Clayton B. Tweedy, of Redington Shores, Fla; one sister, Gladys T. Martin and husband, Charles, of Lynchburg; a treasured granddaughter, Melissa D. Bryant and her husband, Adam; one treasured grandson, Ronnie Dalton Jr.; and one cherished great-grandson, Adam Bryant Jr. all of Madison Heights.
The Rev. Ron Litten and the Rev. Samuel Caldwell will conduct a graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 16 at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2772 Bethany Road, Rustburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, Treasurer, 2132 Red House Road, Rustburg, VA 24588 or Apraxia-KIDS at www.apraxia-kids.org.
The family would like to send with the deepest appreciation and respect for all the support and loving care that "Tweedy Bird" received while he was a resident of Fairmont Crossing Nursing Home. We would also like to thank Hospice of the Hills for such wonderful care in making his last days more comforting. Our hearts and thoughts will always be with everyone who took care of our Paw Paw.

EARL, WAS A PART OF OUR FAMILY FOR MANY YEARS....HE DATED MY AUNT BARBARA,WERE EVERY HALLOWEEN MYSELF AND MY COUSINS RECEIVED THE BIGGEST PUMPKINS AROUND. EVERY SUMMER HE WOULD SPENT A WHOLE WEEK WITH US ALL A VA. BEACH...HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED.
