Ethel Blankenship Obituary

Ethel Johnson Blankenship

Ethel Johnson Blankenship, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Plunkette Blankenship. Born in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Lawson Leonidas and Bertha Mays Johnson.

Mrs. Blankenship was a retired stock cutter for Hercules Corporation, where she served for 12 years. She was also a former employee of Craddock Terry Shoe Corporation, where she served for 33 years. Mrs. Blankenship was also a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and Leawood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Blankenship is survived by one son, Barry J. Blankenship, and his wife, Debbie, of Concord; one daughter, Tami B. Martin, and husband, David, of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Stacey, Kristy, Justin, Scott and Cody; and five great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Fort Hill Memorial Park, with the Rev. Lenn Lloyd officiating.
