Kenneth Cofflin Obituary
Kenneth "Moose" Ray Cofflin, 60, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Wilson Markham Cofflin.
Born Sept. 25, 1946, in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Ludd Woodrow Cofflin and the late Virgie Smith Cofflin.
He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve and for 37 years Mr. Cofflin was employed at Quality Foods Inc., in Madison Heights. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1727 and enjoyed all sports, especially basketball and horse racing, and also working on his computer and going to the beach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Cofflin Smith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five step-children, Wanda Holmes (Rob Toman), Silas Markham (Carolyn), Brenda Copeland (Henry), Debra Roman (Roy) and Vicky Lipscomb (Stephen); eight step-grandchildren; six step-great- grandchildren; one nephew, David Smith (Anita); two nieces, Teresa Tyree and Virginia Bomar; a very special friend, Preston Wells; and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Big Island, with military honors provided by. American Legion Post 16.
Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel and other times at the residence, 1 Powhatan St., Lynchburg.

NOW, I FELT LED TO ADD SOME MORE...
FROM THE "DRUGSTORE DAYS", I WELL REMEMBER KENNETH FROM THE
"J & R" CAFE- FURTHER UP CAMPBELL AVENUE. WE HUNG OUT ALMOST ON A DAILY BASIS. HE WAS A REALLY GOOD POOL PLAYER, AND WE PLAYED A LOT OF SOFTBALL, TOO.
I THINK ABOUT MAYBE 25 YEARS AGO, OR MORE - I MADE A TRIP BACK TO MY HOMETOWN, AND I KNOCKED ON HIS DOOR, AND HE WAS JUST AS NICE AND FRIENDLY AS IN MY TEENAGE YEARS.
HE TRULY WAS A REALLY NICE PERSON, AND I WAS PROUD TO CALL HIM "FRIEND..."

My prayers are with you and your family at this, your time of loss. I worked with Moose at Quality foods some time ago. I know everyone thought a lot of him and I never heard a harsh word about him. He was a friend to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.

The Cofflin Family,
I am so sorry for your loss, Moose and my daddy (Wesley Silby "Red"} worked together at Quality Foods, as well as their good friend Preston. My daddy thought alot of Moose and I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers! I am sure that my daddy was standing there in Heaven waiting to greet his friend.
