Dear Philip
I was so grateful I got to be with you at your bedside. I asked you do you know your Mom is here, and you squeezed my hand. Be at peace my son, be with your brother Michael.

"Borrowed Gems" verses say so much.

"I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine." he said.
For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be five or seven years or twenty-two or more.
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charm to gladden you, and shall his stay make brief: You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return. But there are lessons to be taught down there, I want this child to learn.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain.
Nor hate me when I call for him to take him back again.

I fancied that I heard you say, "Dear Lord, your will be done.
For all the joy thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may, and for happiness we have known forever grateful stay.

But should be angels call for him, much sooner than we planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes.
AND BY GRACE UNDERSTAND."

Love you Philip my son, your Mom

Dear Philip:
As I told you everything will be fine. I’m sure you have discovered what I said is true. When you asked me if you were dying and I responded, “Yes you are,” I sensed a certain calm in you. You became more at ease as time passed those last few days at your bedside. All it took was to just let it go and you did. Watching your acceptance and eventual calm brought to mind this quote by Meister Eckhart, “If you're frightened of dying and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.” You made your peace. Now you can rest...with much love, Gary

dear philip:
i'm sure you know now that what i said was true. "everything will be fine." reflecti on what we talked about by your bedside your last few days brought you some relief, "If you are frightened of dying and holding on, you will see devils tearing your life away. Dear Hazel,
My heart is broken to hear this sad news. My deepest sympathy to you and your
family on such a tragic loss.
Philip was a shining star in the day when fashion jewelry rose to the top of the
market. He was original, he was creative and he made a beautiful product like no
other. I always kept his pieces thru the years as an example of his rare talent.
Philip was a sweet and sincere person who was always honorable, reliable and
never disappointed us or his customers.
Recently, I had purchased a beautiful and colorful vase from him.
It is covered with a rainbow of stones that he had designed in swirls of
georgous colors. I have it in my office. It reminds me of our happy days and of
Philip and his special talent.
I am hoping that he passed peacefully. Please know that he was very important to
Fragments and me. He will always be remembered for the beautiful things and
sunny spirit he brought to this world.
May he rest in Peace and may his memory be eternal to all of us who knew him.
Thank you so much for letting me know.
Respectfully and lovingly,
Janet
