Dorothy Driskill Obituary

Dorothy Dancy Driskill

Dorothy Dancy Driskill, 88, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at The Summit. She was the wife of the late Alec Alexander Driskill. Born Feb. 7, 1922, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late William Hamilton and Edith Hawes Dancy.

Mrs. Driskill was a retired school teacher for the Lynchburg City Schools and a member of First Christian Church, where she served as an elder.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Driskill is preceded in death by one daughter, Betsy Driskill Long.

Mrs. Driskill is survived by one son, Alec Driskill, of Harrisburg, Pa.; one sister, Margaret Lee, of Richmond; two grandchildren, Alec E. Driskill II and Catherine E. Driskill, both of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. David Cobb officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Oct. 8, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

Dear Alec, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was such a special lady. I will always remember her sweet smile. I just lost my own mother in July so I know what you must be going through. Take care and know our thoughts and prayers are with you.
