Isabella S. Mays

Isabella Saunders Mays, 91, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Runk & Pratt Adult Care. She was the widow of Roy Mays.

Isabella was born

March 4, 1919, in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Emma and George Saunders. She retired from Imperial Reading after 43 years of service. She was a Sunday school teacher for 60 years and most recently attended Solid Rock Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Roy Saunders, and her sister, Edith S. Martin.

She will be missed greatly by her brother, Everett J. Saunders (Susan), her sister, Gertrude Cash (Melvin), her nieces and nephew, Brenda Martin, Carol Burks, and David Cash, and numerous great- nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with the Rev. David Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

The family would like to thank the staff of Runk & Pratt for their kindness and loving care extended over the past four years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Solid Rock Church, 100 Church Street, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
