The Tuckers

January 25, 2012

It has been a little over a year and still really hard to understand why good people have to die. Someday in Heaven we will understand. Jesus came into the world to give us hope. Because of His death and resurrection we know that this life is not all there is-as hard as it is for each of us to understand. Ahead of us is the hope of Heaven. Trust in God. There is a poem in the January 25th entry before this entry that surely would be Mike reminding us that life goes on. Live your life. It is all good. We will be with Mike again.

The Tuckers

January 25, 2012

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

January 4, 2012

Missing you everyday. Not a day goes by that we don't think of you. You were the greatest man on earth, and your kindness & generosity would go out to everyone you knew. Know-one will ever fill your shoes or forget you. It's hard to believe tomorrow will have been a year. You touched so many lives, especially mine, and you are loved and missed by so many; and it will be that way, till the end of our time. I love and miss you!

Family Friend Poems:

It's been almost a year,
It doesn't feel like it's been that long.
And it still hurts,
but he's now where he belongs.
No matter what happens,
he'll always be loved.
Until the day I die,
and I join him up above.
He's up there somewhere with God,
He's in his rightful place.
And even though I want him back,
It's a tragedy I have to face.
Sometimes at night,
I cry myself to sleep.
But through the year of darkness,
the depression I'll have to defeat.
His love,
is what keeps me hanging on.
Love is a strong word,
Because it's kept me alive this long.
But there is one more thing,
that I have to say.
My dad's love will go on and on,
and he's in my heart to stay.

Looking back over these past years we are reminded time and again of the love and giving that so describes Mike's very being the fifty nine years he was with us. Life on this Earth continues, but the love we have for Mike will be with us through Eternity.
There is a version of the Prayer of St. Francis that guidelines Mike's life. It goes as follows:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
It is all good.
Your loving sisters,

I know you had the best Christmas ever, in heaven with Jesus, celebrating his birthday. We Lub you Pop! This new year, will not be the same without you, and it's hard to believe for us come January 5th, will have been a year. We have missed you so much, but we pray that you surround each of us every day, in a special way. I hope you're our Guardian Angel, still guiding us through our path of life, just as you help guide us, here on earth. We love and miss you pop!

John 14:1-4

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

And with that said, one day, we will all be together again. WE LOVE YOU!

Merry Christmas - I know the angels in heaven are singing with you and my Father!

Mike always heard the songs and felt our love. He will always be close beside each of us. It is hard not to shed tears. We share tears of sorrow, tears of love, and tears of joy. Mike is spending Christmas with Jesus and all our loved ones who went before him, helping set a place for us.
Time helps ease the sorrow. Take a moment from your list of things to do and listen to your heart. You will find Mike right there with you. You will find him in the stillness-untouched memories of happy treasured times. Love built us a lifetime of memories to cherish. Mike is forever a song in our hearts and souls. We are never ever the same.
Always,

We had no idea Micheal had passed. He was our neighbor for a few years at Lake Monticello, Palmyra. Micheal was probably the best neighbor anyone could ask for. Busy working hard, like us all, Mike was always helpful and friendly.
He told us something about salesmen that we will never forget. He said: You know how you can tell if a salesman is telling you a lie? answer: If his mouth is moving! We will always remember that. He saved me from burning the woods down behind our house one day. A good neighbor watches out for his neighbor, Mike was that... a great neighbor and friend. We really missed him when he left.
He frequently talked about his five sisters and shared stories about being the only boy.

God bless you Mike. Sending our sympathy to his family, friends and love ones.

We are thankful today and feel blessed beyond measure to have had James Michael Tucker as our brother. Mike will always be with us. The love within us grows ever stronger. Mike gave the world the best he had-standing head and shoulders above the crowd. He made time, cared deeply, remained faithful, celebrated successes, provided space, spoke the truth, forgave faults, laughed easily...the list goes on forever. Mike taught us to thank God for what we have. He let us know it was impossible to be grateful and hopeless at the same time. Mike will always be with us...just in a new special way. Our Lord gave us such a blessing in Mike.
Never more than a thought and prayer away...our love for you never ends.
Your sisters,

November 6, 2011

Pop,
If you are listening say a prayer for us every day.
Be sure to protect us and guide us on our way.
We know when God called you, you had to go,
But we want you to know Papa, we miss you and love you so.

There is not a day that goes by that we don't think of you. I know that you were with me during me graduation, smiling. I know you see and are with Andrew and I, and are proud of Andrew's work in the Electricity Program, he spoke of getting in so often. I know each day your watch over us, and are our Angel. We miss you so much. Aiden has grown so much, and Momma shows him pictures of you all the time. He now says, "Papa" when she points to them of you. We love and miss you Pop!! Thank you for everything, and most of all, thank you for our guidance, as you were the best Grandfather ever! No one will ever take your place, or fulfill the shoes you had. We each hope to follow in your footsteps with the love, guidance, and faith you taught us. Missing you every day! Hope your Bowling a 300 score in heaven:)

“For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.”

We are blessed every day in more than a thousand ways. When you lose someone precious, no one really knows all that you feel. When you least expect it, something-a bit of music, a familiar scent, a body movement...brings a memory to mind. In that moment you know that a link remains, the life you loved goes on forever. I read an anonymous writing that could have been named the "Wisdom of Mike". The "Wisdom" said to forgive those who might hurt you; walk softly when you are angry-invoke your sense of humor; uphold your beliefs-don't shy away from what is right; keep hope in your pocket-it will guide you day by day-take it out when it is needed-when it is near, you will find a way; remember friends and family of which you are a precious part; love deeply and love truly-give freely from your heart; the world is far from perfect- there is always conflict and strife, but you can make a difference by how you live your life. Everything you do makes an everlasting impact on someone. In those memories you find peace. Mike was such a witness to others. It is not the years in your life, but the life in your years. Ten months and you are so missed but always with us.

Life is not the way it is supposed to be. Mike always said, "It is what it is." It's the way it is-the way you cope with it is what makes the difference. Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you sigh. It is not only found in the arms of your loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight, and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day. These are the sighs of God. Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming, or are too rigid to depart from their routine. Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. Seize the moment. Keep an open mind. Take the time to stop and listen; hear the music before the song is over. You will be surprised at what you hear. Cherish family and friends. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Eight months have passed. It is still so very difficult. So much has happened so fast. Even though our hearts are heavy, they are so very full of precious memories. There's a song that goes-"Up in the attic, down on my knees, life times of boxes, timeless to me. Letters and photographs yellowed with years, some bringing laughter, some bringing tears..." Mike was a living witness in his everyday life-willing to reach out to meet the needs of others with loving compassion. He didn't even realize it was taking place. That was just Michael. He was such a light. No heartache or sadness is beyond God's understanding or compassion. The peace of God guards our hearts and our minds. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1st Corinthians) Our faith is in God. He offers us hope. He blesses us with the energy to get through each day. Friends and family keep each other strong. We are not forsaken. Our love never ends.

Sometimes the circumstances and challenges we face in life almost destroy us. Trust God through the tears. There are things we don't want to happen, but have to accept; things we don't want to know, but have to learn; and people we cannot live without, but have to let go. Keep us loving, prodding, forgiving...help us remember wherever we walk He walks with us. He is in us at a deeper level than our minds can comprehend. He is always present to lift us up and wipe away our tears. God cares. Strengthen us to know what is important. The eyes of our hearts feel hope, love, and grace. Heaven is the story that never ends. A sunset on Earth is a sunrise in Heaven.

Mike, we talked to your sisters at the shop today, found out it was your birthday. Your work ethic was strong. It seems to run through your whole family. Passing by the shop each day, it's just a habit to look to see if the gates are open. We remember. We grieve. That arm was always up. You were always in good spirits, always upbeat, always positive. Your life should be a model for us all. You were always there to help do what was needed to be done. Never once a complaint. Always putting yourself last. You always paid attention and found time to share your expertise. You had our back. We offer gratitude. We celebrate you today, Tucker.

Happy Birthday, Mike. Today would have been your sixtieth birthday. What a glorious celebration must be going on in Heaven! You are surrounded by a chorus of Angels. Our hearts too are singing this morning although the pain of your loss is very real. We don't have to see you to know you are with us. You remain always happiness we carry inside. Reminiscing childhood memories and grown-up dreams have brought healing to our hearts. We miss your hand to hold, your words, your sense of humor, your smile, your gentle heart, your hugs...Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "It is not the length, but the depth." Today we celebrate a life well lived. We have pride in the legacy you left us. A beautiful soul is never forgotten. We will love you always. We will see you again. It is all good.

Why is it so hard to let go? You are missed so very much, but not forgotten. It's been really hard. However; we want you to know we have learned so much from you! It must give you great satisfaction to have fulfilled your mission on earth by walking in His footsteps and teaching each of us to live the right way. You gave us all strength, guidance, and shared great words of wisdom. No one could ever be more proud to have had such a wonderful influence in their lives. You brought everyone so much joy and fulfillment. I know you are watching over us. We love you so much and you will forever remain in our hearts everyday! Thank you for everything you ever taught us, (and did for us)! Everyone should be just like you!! You’re simplest acts of kindness, always putting everyone before yourself, and the thoughtfulness you always shared. With that said, we thank you for every single moment as it will be cherished forever!!!

Rest in Peace as its all good…

Dearest Mike

I read a quote that said "Positive anything is better than negative nothing." This is not necessarily true in the battery business - is it...

You were always there to share your wisdom - you and i so loved traveling to West Virginia every Saturday for you to bowl...

Mike - I am so proud of you! I have the score cards of many perfect 300 games! Your strength and desire to bowl was phenomenal!

Mike - what a fine gentle man you are!
I could go on and on. Your demeanor and your tenderness towards all people made me proud to be the woman on your arm. I felt and feel so honored to have shared so much with you!

and hey you know I still love you!
hugs to you today and always -

Good Morning Mike, Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you and miss knowing I can stop by the shop and talk to you. I know you are doing so much better and not sick anymore but, I still wish you were here. You always put everyone before yourself. Now you come first. Miss you, Carolyn

I had the honor of getting to know Mike through many years of interesting phone conversations from bowling, cars, family and politics that eventually led to auto parts! Those stories told the character of a loving and giving person I know will be deeply missed. Although I never met Mike in person, I considered him to be much more than a customer, but a friend as well. Prayers are with you; may the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds.
