Dear Harmon Family

I would like to express my sincere condolences on the recent passing of Mark.

When I was beginning 3rd grade, our family moved from the Fishburn Park Elementary School district to the Raleigh Court Elementary School district and I met Mark at school. He invited me to play football with the Raleigh Court Cubs. I remember playing football with Mark & Ricky in the street in front of their house on Westhampton Avenue. When we'd had enough of street football, we then played basketball on their backyard court. In all my memories of Mark, I see him smiling / laughing and always enjoying the moment.

I was very sad to hear of Mark's death. To the entire Harmon family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead.

My apology to the Harman family - in my entry to Mark's guest book, I expressed remembrances of experiences at Calvary Baptist Church - you see, I only learned today of the deaths of both Ben Beach and Mark: & Ben & the Pigg children had gone to Calvary Baptist Church. Please forgive my memory confusion. I really do remember Mark & the Harman family better than my previous entry may have sounded, & I'm truly sorry for your loss & embarrassed about my confusion.

October 14, 2010

To: Mark's parents, siblings, children, fiancee, & all extended family members, & friends:
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the death of your beloved Mark. I know you're missing him very, very much. Memories from his & the Pigg young ones' school days & Calvary Baptist Church experiences are precious.
Sincerely,

Dear Harman family, I just learned of Mark's death from my parents. I can't tell you how saddened I am. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I fondly recall long nights playing basketball with Mark and Rick in the full court of the Harman's back yard on Mount Vernon and playing football at PH with Rick and Mark. I understand from Rick that Mark got "busted" by the coaches his senior year for sneaking away to Arby's after a pre-game team dinner. When Mark offered that he had joined Rick and Klein many times on similar ventures the season before, the coaches opined that Rick and Klein would never had done that. In later years Mark enjoyed telling that story. I will remember him as a kind person with a quick smile and a great sense of humor...and to be forgiven for going to RMC.

My deepest condolences to Sharon and the Harman family. We lost touch after high school, but snippets of memories from neighborhood games, Raleigh Court, Woodrow and Patrick Henry remind me of what fun he was and how much he enjoyed what life brought his way. Forever in my mind, he's the widely-smiling guy in the purple and white letter jacket savoring a big football win. Hoping good memories will ease your sadness during this difficult time.

Mark was my friend and my boss. I have known him for 16 years. He was always good to me and my family and I am thankful for that. I am so glad that recently got to spend time with him just hanging out instead of work. He was both a generous and caring boss as well as a friend. He was especially good and kind to my Mother and my husband and for that I will always be grateful. Me and the rest of his employees will miss him greatly. I know that he is at peace. My prayers, and thoughts go out to Sharon, Peggy, Rick, Ricky, Tommy, Dana, Karen, Brett, Elizabeth, Maggie and Caroline and all of Mark and Sharon's friends and family members.
