"MC" Millard Shupe

"MC" Millard Carroll Shupe, 81, was born May 19, 1929, in Alabama but resided in Lynchburg most of his life. Son of Clark Johnson Shupe and Icie Glenn Shupe; passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010.

MC is survived by his four children, Clark and his wife, Patricia, Gerald, Diane and her boyfriend, Mark, and Glenn and his wife, Irene; his wife, Betty J. Shupe, of Appomattox, and her three sons. MC had 12 grandchildren, a devoted grandson John John, one great-grandchild, three step-great grandchildren; his brother, Johnny Shupe, of Richmond; two good friends, Tom Sawyer and Eugene Bryant; a devoted sister-in-law, Betty Lou Johnson, of Hurt; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his son, Richard Todd "Dickie" Shupe, three brothers and a sister.

MC served in the military during the Korean conflict serving as a member of the 101st Airborne. He drove for Harris Trucking for many years until his retirement.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lynchburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Reed Ness officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. Military Honors will be given by the American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Sept. 14, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at his daughter Diane's residence.
