Vicky Mathews Obituary
Vicky Kay Mathews, 48, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Richard Louis Mathews Jr. Born Oct. 24, 1962, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of Paul Neal Adams and the late Liona Jean Brumfield Adams.
In addition to her father, Vicky is survived by five children, Tammy Wilson, Tiffany Johnson and her husband, Sterling, Richard Mathews III, Amber Cleveland and Ashley Cleveland, all of Lynchburg; five siblings, Diane Robertson and her husband, James, of Lynchburg, Betty Martin and her husband, Ronnie, of Evington, Gail Sherlin and her husband, Tommy, of Lynchburg, Mike Adams, of Lynchburg, and Sue Reid and her husband, Thomas, of Evington; and seven grandchildren, Alyssa Baber, Biore Hood, Jada Hood, Aniyah Johnson, Makynna Johnson, Aiden Johnson and Kamden Mathews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the Brumfield Family Cemetery in Hurt, with the Rev. Curtis Walkup officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 2, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the needs of the family.

I didn't know Vicky for long, but I think I can say that we had become friends. She was a strong woman who had hope and faith in her own future. I know she loved her children dearly. I am so sad we won't get the chance to build on our friendship.

To all the of Vickie's children, I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. I cannot imagine the pain in your hearts right now. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family as we all go through this together. Vickie is my aunt & she was loved so much more than she could've ever known, by so many people. She is safe, healthy & happy right by Granny's side now. They are together and I'm sure they are rejoicing, waiting patiently for when God calls for the rest of us to come home. Vicky GOD has taken you home now rest in peace. I grew up and went to school with Vicky we have been friends about 40yrs.Cotton Hill brings back a lot of memories and Vicky will always have a place in my heart. GOD BLESS her husband, children and grandchildren, and the Adams family my thoughts and prayers are with you in this great loss

I was very sad to read that Vicky had passed away, I still think of her as the little girl of your family. I have very fond memories of our friendship when we were children on Federal Street. May God Bless each of you with peace and may your memories bring you comfort in the difficult days ahead.
