Doris Cash Obituary

Doris "Dot"

Woody Cash

Doris Katherine "Dot" Woody Cash, 69, of Madison Heights, entered into eternal rest Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at her residence.

Born in Lynchburg, March 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. "Skin" Woody and Gladys Viar Woody. Dot was well known and well loved in Amherst County; she was a true entrepreneur and remained active in investing and managing real estate all over Amherst County. Dot loved all people, and her loyalty to God could never be questioned. She was an avid reader and scholar of the Bible and loved to share her knowledge with all. She was a talented artist, story-teller, and frequently quoted references from the Bible. We know she is at peace, and we will see her again in Heaven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Anders-Allen; her husbands, Andy Anders and William "Greekie" Macheras, and one brother, E.W. Woody.

She is survived by her son, Theodore Gus "Teddy" Macheras, and Michelle L. Macheras; two grandchildren, Berkleigh Shae and Brennen Gus, whom she loved dearly; and one brother, Robert "Bobby" Woody, and his wife, Brenda, and adjoining family. She is also survived by several very special and devoted friends, Harry Ewers, Doug Baldock, Tony Moshonas, Nancy Bell Carol, Terry Gayle Novak and many others.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, with the Rev. Charles L. Stinson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dot was a lover of animals. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Amherst County Humane Society, P.O. Box 614, 318 Shelter Lane, Amherst, VA 24521, or to a charity of your choice.

Growing up around Dot was an adventure. I'll always remember us sitting together at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church holding our little babies during the service. Then years later, we shared stories about our grandchildren. Dot touched many lives along the way and she always left a smile on each persons face. My deepest condolences to Bobby and family.

I'm a native of Amherst Co and grew up in Madison Heights with my grandparents who rented a house from the Woody's. I remember Dot coming to their house on many occasions to visit. Her charm and bubbly personality made an impression on me at a very young age. She was a beautiful and intelligent person. my condolences go to her son Teddy and his wife, and the rest of the family. She will be truly missed.

Teddy and Family - Dot was truly a popular mainstay here in the county. Every time I saw her I felt uplifted by her humor and her refreshing outlook on life. Being a jewelry lover, I loved to hear stories about her jewelry and where she got them and any special meaining they had. I hope that you will find much peace in all the wonderful memories. My sincere condolences to you.
