Elsie E. Cornford

Elsie E. Cornford, 100, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward C. Johnson, and her second husband, Howard Cornford.

Born April 9, 2010, in Remsen, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late David and Flora Johnson Anderson. She was retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company and was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Roberta Ann Ray and Doris Virginia Cihak.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Folkers, of Monroe; her son, Warren Edward Johnson, of Amherst; a sister, Lois Appleton, of California; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

A candlelight service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joyce Austin and Chaplain Miriam Dakin. Celebrating 100 years of my life well lived.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Tabor UMC.
