June GILLISPIE Obituary

June Keesee Gillispie

June Keesee Gillispie, 68, of Madison Heights, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at her home. She was the devoted wife of James H. Gillispie Sr. for 49 years.

Born June 28, 1940, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of Virginia Estelle Daniels Cordes and her husband, John, of Forest and the late Matthew Thomas Keesee. Mrs. Gillispie retired from General Electric/Ericsson and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Butler.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gillispie is survived by two daughters, Jeanette King and husband, Jay, and Sherry Johnson and husband, Terry, all of Madison Heights; one son, James H. Gillispie Jr. and wife, Carol, of Monroe; one sister, Mary Adams and husband, Jimmy, of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Melissa Ramsey and husband, Matt, Bryan Carson, Brandy Knabb and husband, Matt, Zachary King, Harry Doss III and wife, Shannon, Spencer Gillispie and Trevor Gillispie; and four great-grandchildren, Stella Ramsey, Ada Ramsey, Logan Doss and Kloie Rogers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at Whitten Monelison Chapel by the Rev. Terry L. Wornstaff. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens, Amherst.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today, March 15, 2009, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, and other times at the residence.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312; or Oakdale Baptist Church, 102 Brightwell Mill Road, Madison Heights, VA, 24572.
