Dakota Pritchett Obituary

Dakota Watts Pritchett Sr.

Dakota Watts Pritchett Sr., 88, of Lynchburg, died, Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was the loving husband of Annie Holmes Trent Pritchett.

Born in Albemarle County, Dec. 9, 1922, he was a son of the late Edward Cleveland Pritchett and Sarah Jane Wayland Pritchett. Dakota was a member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church and served in the United States Army during World War II.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by two sons, Dakota Watts Pritchett Jr., and wife, Marsha, Wayland H. Pritchett and wife, Peggy all of Rustburg; a daughter, Claudia Anne Pritchett Sharp and husband, David of Mountain Top, Pa.; a devoted granddaughter and caregiver, Sarah Adrienne Sharp; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters Bernita Vogt Brooks and Virginia Anderson and a brother Newt Pritchett.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Peter Stazen, II officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, (Japanese Relief Fund.) 3300 Carroll Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501.

DW and Todd,
I am sorry I was unable to attend, but I am in SC with my daughter. Todd told me a couple of months ago, that he had made a video so the grandkids would know their grandpa. I am so glad he did that. DW, I am sorry "your brother" is gone.
