I was so sorry to hear of Danny's passing. I was blessed to spend quiet of bit of time with all teh E and H football players as a trainer. I have fond memories of two-a-days, KPHI and Gam keg parties and being in the middle of the kegly brother hugs. Garnsey was always this sweet gentle guy with that mischieveous grin. I will be praying for your wife and daughters and their loss. May God bless you and keep you. Love,

Danny grew up a few blocks from me and we went to the old Fort Hill Elementary, until busing came after third grade. He caused me and the rest of the linemen a lot of extra wind sprints at Sandusky, lol. Stand up guy.

Memories of playing different sports with friends as I was growing up have stayed etched in my memory for my entire life. Basketball, baseball, track, or even kickball on a playground. You learn a lot about a person through this interaction either as a team member or an opponent. As the headline from this posting is a strong memory of my final game as a Pioneer so too will the memories of playing against and beside Danny Garnsey last forever in my mind. I learned so much from Danny during youth competitions and so much more as we began our lives as parents. As this picture attached is a fond memory, forever etched in me, so too are the volumes of memories with Danny Garnsey. Thanks for the memories, Dan. You are missed.

Memories of what was my final game as a Pioneer, have stayed with me for over 30 years as if they were yesterday. So too will my memories of Danny.

I worked with Dan years ago at Virginia Baptist Hospital. We soon discovered that he knew my husband from childhood (they played ball against each other). He was a wonderful counselor @ work and clearly loved his family. I have 3 daughters and we often joked about our "parallel universes". I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.

Shari,
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls. Dan was a wonderful guy and am very happy to be part of the extended Garnsey family. While Dan left us way too soon, I find consolation that he is with Eleanor and Si.

I too have had the pleasure of knowing "Garnz" since Freshman year at EHC. One of the fondest memories is one year, I had to go to summer school and none of my girlfriends were going that year. Danny made a point to come to me and let me know I had a friend in him and could hang with him and 2 of his best buddies, Mark and Joe, all summer. It was one of the best summers of my life. "Garnz" is now an Angel watching over his friends and family. God Bless you Shari and the girls. I am blessed to call him my friend.

I met "Garnz" at EHC my freshman year and was blessed to have been able to spend 4 years with him as my friend. One memory that stands out is this. I had to go to summer school one year, with none of my girlfriends around. The first day I got there, Danny came to me to let me know I had a friend and I could hang with him all summer. It ended up being one of the best summers ever, thanks to him and his 2 good friends, Mark & Joe. Garnz you are now an Angel in Heaven, taken to watch over your friends and famly as you did while here on Earth. You will be truly missed.

I was just thinking of the Garnsey Clan a few days ago. How I wish I hadn't lost touch. It just seems like yesterday Dan was giving me advice...and I was picking blackberries with Shari and baby Elizabeth...I am thinking of the Garnsey women today, and praying for your comfort. He lived a great life and touched many...even after so many years.

Danny was one of my best friends since 5th grade. We had so many great times together. The memories are almost endless. If everyone could have a life long friendship with someone like Dan, the world would be a better place. May God be with Shari, Liz, Sam & Nikki, Dan's sisters and brother and their families now and forever. I'm going to miss you Big Guy.

The world lost a very good man. Everyone who knew Danny, played football with him (as I did at E&H), or even heard him laugh took some of that with them. I am saddened by your loss, will keep your family in my prayers, and promise to celebrate his life with those I know so his memory continues.

I was a fraternity brother and football player with Danny at E & H.. He was a dear friend of mine. My life was better for having him in it and I will dearly miss him. Emory was a place where you could be good friends with people no matter what affiliation you had. May The Lord bless your family with good friends and happiness.

One of the things that I loved about Emory was the fact that it was small enough to get to know everyone. From our freshman experiences in Hillman and through all the years I spent there, I have only fond memories of THE GARNZ!!! I am so saddened by his early departure from us while also relieved that any pain and suffering he may have been going through is over. I wish that I had said more than happy birthday to him this summer. Dan Garnsey will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family and friends.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That we still are
Call me by my familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner...
All is well
