John Dodson Obituary

John Stuart

Dodson Sr.

John Stuart Dodson Sr., 60, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010.

Born May 24, 1950, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Ruby Roach Dodson and Robert Mays Dodson Sr.

John is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rhonda Tyree Dodson; his children, Teresa Erickson and her husband, Chris, of Round Hill, John Dodson Jr. and his fianc‚ Lauren Proffitt, of Lynchburg, Colt Dodson, of Lynchburg, and Heather Dodson, of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Adrianna Erickson, Ethan Erickson and Emily Dodson; a sister, Donna Pallotti, of Amherst; and a lifelong friend, Jack Meeks.

John was a loving husband, an awesome father and grandfather. He loved to play music and could be counted on to always have a smile on his face. He always had a positive outlook on life because his belief was strong. He knew where he was going and was ready to go. John's favorite pastime was texting with Jack. He will be missed.

To Rhonda, Donna and all of Johnny's family.
I was very sorry to hear of Johnny's passing. I was unaware of his illness until last week when Jack sent me a message. I have been out of town for a couple of weeks. Johnny was truly one of a kind, when God made him He definently threw away the mold. When we use to load up equipment @ Jack's home John would always show up just about a minute after we got that big ole heavy organ loaded. He would just cackle and say we should have waited on him. Of course we had seen him driving back and forth up 29 watching to see when we had it loaded. That was Johnny!
As you go through this time of grief may God's amazing grace sustain you in the days ahead. In my opinion Johnny was the most talented guy I've know. God bless each and all and may we have peace in knowing that in the resurection we'll see Johnny once again. A friend, Wayne Isaacs

Very sorry to hear of John's passing. We were friends as children, but I had not seen him in about 15 years. He and I went to school together at Mountain View Elementary and we were also both born on the same date, at the same hospital, in rooms across from each other.
