URSEL CALHOUN

Ursel Carwile Calhoun

Ursel Carwile Calhoun passed away Sunday, October 24, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born in Brookneal, VA to the late Willie Morton Carwile and Sally Smith Carwile. Ursel was the wife of the late James D. Calhoun, the love of her life for sixty nine years.

She was a member of Fairview Christian Church and faithfully attended for over 72 years. She also was a member in the Loyal Sons and Daughters Sunday school class; the Fairview Rebecca, Lodge No. 52 since 1975; the United Commercial Traveler's Fraternal Organization and in later years, was a volunteer at Virginia Baptist Hospital. The family would like to thank her "Wendy's" friends whom she had dinner with almost every night.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia G. Calhoun of Richmond and her fianc‚e Stephen H. Martin of Springfield, VA: three sisters-in-law; Dorothy Carwile, Lula Calhoun and Esla Mays. She is preceded in death by two brothers: George Carwile and James Carwile; two sisters: Geneva Rigney and Edith Kiger.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Fairview Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels Inc., P.O.
