Victor Wineberger Obituary

Victor Lynn Winebarger

"These wheels keep turning but they're running out of steam." Vic's wheels ran out of steam.

July 23, 1960 - September 18, 2010

"Be kinder than necessary for everyone is fighting some kind of battle. LIVE SIMPLY, LOVE GENEROUSLY, CARE DEEPLY, SPEAK KINDLY, and most of all PRAY CONTINUALLY."

Vic was in the happiest, most peaceful time of his life in recent weeks. Only God knows why he was called home. We can only wonder if the call from his beloved nephews, David Wayne Brooks, 6-23-1974/ 12-16-2008, Christopher Lee Powell, 5-16-1972/6-21-2010, and step-nephew, Stephen Shane Bozeman, 4-25-1969/09-30-2008, all there in heaven waiting for him was a call he felt the need to answer. "Victor followed the path God laid for him. He took his hand when he heard God call; he turned his back and left it all. Vic couldn't stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, or play. He found that peace at the close of a near perfect day. God wanted him; now he set him free." Victor left this sometimes cruel world, "In the arms of the angels."

Victor leaves to cherish his warm, boyish smile and gentle, loving nature the love of his life, his daughter Haley Victoria Winebarger and her mother Cindy Ion. His parents Edythe and Joe Mullagh and J.C. and Joan Winebarger; his "big sisters," Sandra White and Dicky, Debbie Bozeman and Steve, Diane Austin and Robert, and Marie Ward and Herbie; Rick Brooks, his only remaining nephew; nieces, Kim Lemburg, Lori Waddell, Jennifer Austin, Shelley Caudill, Hannah Etter and Sherry Loy; and numerous step-brothers and step-sisters. Victor's

ex-wife, Theresa Winebarger, had become his best friend, once again.

Victor was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church. He was employed with Flowers Baking Co. for 28 years. He was a gifted "shade tree mechanic" who loved his motorcycles and NASCAR.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Carl Weiser officiating.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Central Virginia Community Services, Attn: Courtland Center, 2241 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family, (434) 237-9424. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.tharp

I extend my thoughts and prayers to Victor's family on their loss. I did not know Victor, but I did know J.C. and was his "paper boy" when Victor was born. God bless all Victor's family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to all of Victor’s family, especially to Edythe and Jake, who were like my extended family when I was growing up and I was privileged to call Victor my best friend. Victor was a major influence and taught me a lot. I would not be the same person had we never met. He will be greatly missed, as the world is a lesser place without him.

Sincerely,

Tony Miller

My thoughts and prayers to all of Victor's family. I first met Vic back in my HS days and then when I was at Flowers in the 80's and early 90's. I have many great memories of what a caring, gifted, and fun person he was to be around. Even though he is missed here on Earth I am sure his smile is even bigger now!
