Audrey Lee "Poochie" Wheeler Montano
Audrey Lee "Poochie" Wheeler Montano 67, of Bedford died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Bedford, Va. A daughter of the late John Edward Wheeler and Gladys C. Wheeler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen "Kitty" Dooley.
She is survived by husband Leonard "Lenny" Montano; two sons, Timothy Montano and girlfriend, Connie Haun and Monte Montano; one daughter Christy Montano Martin and husband, Scott; two grandchildren, Corey Montano and Montana Rae Martin, all of Bedford; two sisters, Nancy Robertson and husband, Garland; Pauline Zimmerman; one brother Butch Wheeler and wife, Sandy, all of Bedford; special friends, Brenda Gardner, Linda Witt, Nancy Dooley, and Connie England.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 9221 Forest Hill Road, Richmond, Va. 23235
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ray T. Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood cemetery. I am so sorry to hear about the death of "Poochie". I grew up with her in Bedford County. Haven't seen her in years and did not know she was ill. Please accept my condolences and may God bless all of her family members.
