Hannon Wesley Jr.

Hannon Wesley Jr. "Cotton" 72, of 1167 Dixie Airport Road, Madison Heights, departed this life on Dec. 8, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Amherst County on July 26, 1938, to the late Lee Hannon and Alene English Wesley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy W. Crawley, and Edna Wesley and Brother Russell Wesley.

Hannon accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Scott Zion Baptist Church.

He was employed with T.M. Sweeney as a contractor.

Hannon leaves to cherish his precious memories three sons, Hannon Wesley III, of Dillwyn, Calvin Wesley, of Lynchburg, and Kelvin Wesley, of Madison Heights, three daughters, Francina (William Jr.)Thomas, of Madison Heights, Cassandra Horsley, of Madison Heights, and Teresa Dillard, of Lynchburg; two sisters, Hellen Scott (Thurman), of Triangle and Ruby Evans (Norvell Jr.), of Madison Heights; two brothers, Clarence Wesley and Rueben Wesley (Shirley), both of Madison Heights and a devoted caretaker, Minnie Hutcherson, of Madison Heights. He was blessed with thirty grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; and friends.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to Barsino "Squatty" Horsley, the staff of Seven Hills Hospice and Sandra Carr, RN for their care and support.

A funeral service will be conducted 2pm Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at Community Funeral Home with the Reverend Darnell Mays officiating. Interment will be in the Scott Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. His remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. The family is receiving friends at the home of his niece, Minnie Hutcherson, 1179 Dixie Airport Road, Madison Heights. The cortege will assemble at the funeral home. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected]. Community Funeral Home, directing.

Dear Cassandra, Thank you for allowing Seven Hills Hospice to be a part of your family and providing care for Cotton. I know Rita and Nancy were honored to care for him at the end of his journey home. He will forever be a part of our hearts. God Bless you and your family.

Cassandra, Barsino and all of Cotton's family; I love each of you and you know how I loved Cotton. I wish I could have been with you during this time. I know that he is now in the arms of Jesus and resting peacefully. May God bless each one of you for your dedication and loving care that you provided for him.
