John Carter Obituary

John Howard Carter John Howard Carter of 2919 Carter St., Lynchburg departed this life Sunday, November 6, 2011. Born November 10, 1947 in Amherst County the son of the late Russell B. Carter and Naomi S. Carter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Cordie, Jessie, Edward, Herman, Lawrence, George, Charles and William "Bill". He was employed by Buncher Rail Co. for 30 years. John is survived by one son, Juan Edward Randolph; two stepdaughters, Tomara Shaffer "Plum" and Michelle Hale "Worm" all of Lynchburg; one sister, Naomi Carter of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Sherman Carter "Pig" of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Jamie Foxx, Brittany Shaffer and Lamont Shaffer all of Lynchburg; four aunts, Margaret M. Scott, Yvonne Edwards (Trevi) of Lynchburg, Lucille Snead of New Jersey and Beulah Scott of Madison Heights; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held 2pm, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Community Funeral Home. The family is receiving friends and the cortege will assemble at 1005 Florida Ave. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected]
