Mattie was like a part of our family. She was the babysitter of my mother & her brother. Then the babysitter of me & my little brother. She was like my best friend, while she was staying here with my family when I would have a bad night I would go in her room crying and she would sit up with me talking about everything. I can remember when Brian and I would go in her room and make little beds in her floor when it would snow and we knew we didnt have school. She was a wonderful woman who touched many peoples lives in these 89 years of her life. We have many memories with miss Mattie. She was a woman with many words, I can remember sitting in her room with her while she was watching Law & Order and she would be talking about how she didn't like certain people and I would just laugh and say Mattie you always have something to say about that guy and she would laugh and say well he doesn't know what he is talking about. Everyone loved Mattie, she did whatever she could for people. I'll always remember the times my family and I had with Mattie. She will be missed dearly, always loved, and never forgotten.
We have the family and all friends in our thoughts and prayers.
Love Samantha Stilwell and the Stilwell Family.

I loved Miss Mattie, she was one of my dearest friends. We spoke on the phone often after she moved from her home. I remember once when my freezer went bad and I had to cook everything that had been in it. I took her a pork roast and she was very pleased to get it. I think that is what started our friendship. She returned the plate several days later and said if you return someone their plate they will return it to you full again, and we laughed about that. I used to tell her my husband had been bad and she would tell me she was going to get a switch after him and we would laugh about that for a while. She was a real Christian woman and I have respected her for her truth and kindness in the face of adversity. She was a woman of dignity and honor and I am very blessed to have been called her friend. Soon we shall meet in that wonderful place called Heaven, and I shall seek her out and we will share more laughter, in the arms of our Lord.
God Bless you all in your time of loss,
