Mattie was like a part of our family. She was the babysitter of my mother & her brother. Then the babysitter of me & my little brother. She was like my best friend, while she was staying here with my family when I would have a bad night I would go in her room crying and she would sit up with me talking about everything. I loved Miss Mattie, she was one of my dearest friends. We spoke on the phone often after she moved from her home. I remember once when my freezer went bad and I had to cook everything that had been in it. I took her a pork roast and she was very pleased to get it. I think that is what started our friendship. She returned the plate several days later and said if you return someone their plate they will return it to you full again, and we laughed about that. I used to tell her my husband...

Mattie will be fondly remembered by all of our family. She shared some great memories with us. We wll all miss her.
