Alice Colmore Payne

Mrs. Alice Colmore Payne (Bea), of Rustburg, departed this life on Febr. 26, 2011, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1956, in Campbell County. She was the daughter of the late Withers Payne and Mrs. Fannie Payne. She was an active member of Flat Creek Baptist Church until her health declined and an employee of the City of Lynchburg.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Withers T. and Larry W. Jackson, and one sister, Bernice Jackson. She was the wife of Thomas Payne. She is also survived by seven sisters, Geraldine Douglas, Shirley Roberson (Velton), Lynchburg, Mary Haynes (Lloyd), Bedford, Connie Ritter(Leon), Smyrna, Tenn., Virginia Mason (Jerry), of Md., Christine Warrick, of Madison Heights and Laverne Jackson, of Rustburg, seven brothers, William (Pete) Jackson, Rustburg, Gerald Jackson, of Concord, Lawrence Jackson (Sharon) of Amherst, Kenneth Jackson of Sacramento Ca., Benjamin Payne, of Rustburg, Harold Payne (Dee), of Washington D.C., and James Payne (Evetta), of Lynchburg, mother-in-law & father-in-law, Dorothy & Joseph Price, one brother in law, Tyrone Payne (Betty), four sister-in-laws, Carol Johnson (Joe), Alice Jennings (Raymond), and Cynthia Haney (Johnny) and Evelyn Jackson, step children, Thomas (Mark), Tiffany Payne, & Jonathan Payne, seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 2, 2011, at Crossroads Baptist Church with the Rev. James Braxton officiating. Interment will be in the Jackson Payne Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7to 8 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the residence. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com.
