Catherine Slivinske Obituary
Catherine Ursula Slivinske, 80, of Forest, passed away Monday, Oct. 11, 2010. She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and raised with a strong Catholic background. She was born into a family that immigrated from Poland and lived the American Dream of starting and owning their own business, the Chokola Soda Pop Factory.
Catherine married Glenn Slivinske and helped support their family and his career through the progressive moves from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to Columbus, Ohio, Syracuse, N.Y., Butler, Pa., and finally to their home of 32 years in Lynchburg. Her contribution to her family was her devotion to raising the family in a loving, Christian home with good strong moral values.
She is survived by five children, Cheryl Hartshorne, Karon Cumberland, Glenn Slivinske, Gregg Slivinske and Janelle Slivinske; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her children remember their mother for her honesty and directness, her strength and determination and her charitable contributions made throughout her life. Catherine admirably gave a lifelong devotion of love and care to her family and grandchildren and will forever be remembered fondly in their hearts.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory, (434) 239-2405, is assisting the family.

Cheryl and family, your mother was obviously a wonderful lady, loved much by all who knew her. I never had the pleasure of knowing her, I know Cheryl who looks just like her mother and has the same sweet smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this great loss. To All of my Slivinske cousins...your Mother was a beautiful and kind woman. I have many fond memories of her wonderful smile and laughter. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Thinking of you all at this time...my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sadly, I didn't get to meet Mrs. Slivinske but learned alot about her over the last two years or so from Janelle. She must have been a wonderful and interesting person to say the least! My warmest and heartfelt thoughts go out to the entire Slivinske family.

I was just thinking about Catherine a couple days ago - wondering where she was and how she was doing. I didn't know her well but worked with Glenn at Nationwide for many years. Praying that good memories will bring comfort and smiles in the days ahead.
