Howard Isaacs Obituary

Howard Gerald Isaacs

Howard Gerald Isaacs, 91, quietly departed this life at 1:40 a.m., Dec. 10, 2010, on the 24th anniversary of the passing of his wife, Odell Miles Isaacs.

Gerald was born on Feb. 3, 1919. He was a lifelong resident of Campbell County and lived on the family farm for all of his life with the exception of the time he spent serving his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. A carpenter and farmer by trade, a husband and father by nature and a child of God by the redemptive power of Jesus Christ, he wanted each of us to know it was well with his soul. Gerald had a strong love for the land, family, nation and his creator.

He is survived by two sons and their wives, Wayne Isaacs (Barbara Jean), Steve Isaacs (Jeannie), five grandchildren, Angela Ewers, Bobby Isaacs, Travis Isaacs, Rebecca Isaacs, Lloyd Thacker; four great grandchildren, Lindsey Plogger, Ashton Ewers, Cody Isaacs and Destini Thacker. In addition to those, he is also survived by a sister, Katherine Robertson; a brother, Norman Isaacs and a very special friend and caregiver, Corrine Morris.

The family will receive friends today, Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road.

A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by the Rev. Marvin Hiner.

The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Lynchburg General Hospital, North 2nd floor GMU as well as the staff of Guggenheimer 1st floor for the compassion and care offered to both Dad and our family during these days.

In lieu of flowers, please consider Central Virginia Area Agency on Ageing.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory, (434) 239-2405 is assisting the family.
