Louis Byron Plummer

Louis Byron Plummer, 66, of Amherst, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010. He was born in Newport News on May 6, 1944, to Josephine Plummer Gilman, of Dutton, and the late Louis G. Plummer. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Wade Plummer. His surviving children are daughters, Paige Beck and husband, Jim, and their children, Pearson and Sara-Elizabeth, of Centreville, and Tricia Davis and husband, Jeff, and their children, Danielle and Kelly, of Lusby, Md.

Louis is also survived by his wife's daughter and son, whom he loved like his own, Gina King and husband, Chip, of Chesapeake, and Reggie Bennett and wife, Dina, and their son, Mitch, of Lynchburg.

Also surviving are sisters, Sara Jo Acuff and husband, Lucian, of Chantilly, and Kathleen Stacey and late husband, Will, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; and brother-in-law, Ossie Wade and wife, Teresa, and their child, Savannah Mae, of Norfolk.

Louis had many cousins, nieces and nephews, whom he cared for dearly.

He was a proud member of the U. S. Marine Corps and enjoyed going back to Parris Island for visits. He retired after 37 years of telephone work from C&P Telephone, Lucent Technology, and Avaya Communications to his farm in Amherst. He leaves behind many friends from his career. A sincere "thank you" from a grateful patient and loving wife goes to the Centra Hospice team, who so compassionately cared for his needs.

You will be forever missed, my dear friend and love"B."
