Louisi Watson Obituary

Louis L. Watson Sr.

Louis L. Watson Sr., 88, went home to be with his savior on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, after a lenghty illness, at the Guggenheimer Nursing Home. He was born in Big Island on May 18, 1921, to the late Otis and Cora Tucker Watson.

He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife, Mary Agnes Watson; four brothers, Otis, Theron, Herman and Nathan Watson; and four sisters, Adeline Davis, Dorothy Lee, Fannie Nowlin and Cora Cardwell.

Louis leaves to cherish his memories six children, Ronald L. Callands-Watson and Pamala M. Callands (the late Mavin Jones), both of Lynchburg, Louis L. Watson Jr. (Nadine Richardson), of Durham, N.C., M. Frances Carter (Anthony), of Lynchburg, Romona Johnson (Lloyd), of Agusta, Ga., and Bernard Callands, of Atlanta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was in the restaurant business for more than 30 years and took great pride in his work and in his family. His kindness was immeasurable, and he always had a great humor.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 806 Wise St. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, in the Forest Hill Burial Park, with the Rev. Joseph Moore officiating.

Services are entrusted to Franklin-Hutcherson Funeral Home.

"Dark Clouds"
The dark clouds only last a while
So patient be, and gently smile.
Change can come so swiftly now,
No need for sad and furrowed brow.
Life may be not what you planned,
Frustrations hard to understand,
But Providence reigns up above
So smile, and offer up your love
To One who knows when crosses come,
The best prayer is: "Thy Will be done."
