I saw Ralph a few weeks ago at the Stadium Inn and he was smiling and recalling the great years at Glass. He loved people and was a good man and good friend. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of the Ralph's passing. He grew up with my Father
Curtis Fisher Childress, son of Clarence Fisher Garfield Childress.
Mary Shaner is Clarence Childress' sister. Rosa Austin (Big Big Granny and Victor (Whit) are my Great Grandparents. They all lived in close proximinty to each other near the Lynchburg Stadium, and Montegue Betts. Oh how I miss them all.
My Dad spoke often of R.E. Shaner.

Ralph and I were classmates and graduated from Glass in 1951. We were on the state track championship team in 1950 and worked together at LHTS in Madison Heights. WE corresponded for a number of years by e-mail and I always looked forward to hear from him. He was an outstanding person and a friend.

I was saddened to hear of Ralph's passing. As a young man, I served with him on the Board of Officers at Moose Lodge 715. I too went on to be a 2-time Governor at the Lodge. May the good Lord be with all of the family in your time of sorrow.

Please know you are in my sincere thoughts and prayers. Words are so inadequate at a time like this. Mr. Shaner was always a true gentleman.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
