Robert W. Poehner

Robert W. Poehner, 82, of Johnstown, died Dec. 5, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 9, 1928, in Brownstown, son of the late John and Erna (Pentak) Poehner. He was preceded in death by brothers David and Charles and sister Delores Stutzman. He is survived by his wife Mathilda (Paige) Poehner, whom he married Sept. 11, 1954, daughter Karen Murphy and her husband Toby, Lynchburg and son Robert W. Poehner Jr. and wife Diane G., Roanoke, grandchildren Mark Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Lauren Poehner and Leah Poehner. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on church council, as an usher and was a Sunday School teacher. Member of Westmont Hilltop Band Boosters, was a coach for the West Suburban Little League, member of Charles Menoher Post #155 VFW and of B.P.O.Elks Lodge #175. He had worked for Johnstown Poster Advertising and was a Korean War Veteran.

Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Funeral services Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church by the Rev. Michael A. Van Dyke officiating. Interment Grandview Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Charles Menoher Post #155 VFW Honor Guard.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Upper Yoder Volunteer Fire Company or to Zion Lutheran Youth Campership Fund.

MRS POEHNER, I JUST FOUND OUT THIS AM ABOUT YOUR GREAT LOSS. WORDS CANNOT ADEQUATELY EXPRESS MY SORROW. I HAD MISSED THE TWO OF YOU COMING IN TO HAVE YOUR BLOOD DRAWN AND WAS CONCERNED. I HOPE THE IMAGE OF JESUS HOLDING BOB IN HIS LOVING ARMS BRINGS YOU COMFORT. LOVINGLY, PAT MONTAGUE
