Winston Harvey Obituary

Winston Elroy Harvey

Winston Elroy Harvey, 76, of Fairfax, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010. Born in Amherst County, he was the only child of James Riley Harvey and Ruth Mantiply Harvey.

He was a 1951 graduate of Temperance High School, and a 1955 graduate of Lynchburg College. After college, he joined the Navy.

Winston sold insurance for Travelers Insurance and later became a bail bondsman for Brown's Bondsman's in Fairfax until he retired in 2005.

He was an active member of Amherst Legion Post 177 in Fairfax.

Winston was a sports enthusiast and an avid Washington Redskins fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his cousin and lifelong friend, Glen Harvey.

He is survived by his aunts, Shirley Harvey Campbell (R. Lloyd Campbell), of Lynchburg, Jean Harvey Brockman (James E. Brockman), of Amherst, Adis Canody (the late John Roy Canody), of Amherst, life, and a host of friends and family.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at the American Legion Hall Post 177 in Fairfax.
