Gilbert Trenum Obituary

Published by Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center from Sep. 30 to Oct. 1, 2010.

Gilbert Allen Austin Trenum, III Gilbert Allen Austin Trenum, III, age 17, of Nokesville, Va. passed away September 27th, 2010 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He was born March 26th, 1993 in Charleston, S.C., and was the much loved son of Gilbert Trenum, Jr. and Michelle Noland Trenum.

Austin was a senior at Brentsville District High School, where the Cambridge Scholar excelled both in the classroom and on the field as a starting fullback and linebacker on the Varsity Football Team and an attack and mid-fielder on the Lacrosse Team. In addition to playing on his teams, he assisted with his littlest brother's lacrosse practices and with Brentsville's youth lacrosse camps. With his signature wave, contagious smile and warm spirit, Austin was a friend to all and considered a remarkable role model.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, backyard parasailing, 4-wheeling, and paintballing and was a member of the BETA Club and the Manassas Assembly of God in Bristow. His unique ability to engage with little ones, peers, and adults, endeared him to all. Austin wore crazy hats, loved to paint his body in support of Brentsville's volleyball team and gymnastics team. He always enjoyed hanging out and laughing with his family and friends. He was greatly loved.

Austin will be sadly missed by his parents of Nokesville, Gil and Michelle Trenum; two brothers, Cody 15, and Walker 10; maternal grandparents, Gene and Cookie Noland of Lubbock, Texas; paternal grandparents, Gilbert Trenum Sr. and Blenda Trenum of Maysville, W.Va.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who all loved and cherished Austin.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 1st, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. at the Manassas Assembly of God (MAG), 11500 New Life Way, Bristow, Va. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the MAG church sanctuary with Pastor Scott Leib officiating.

Interment will follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, Va. A reception will follow at MAG church following the interment.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, they ask for memorial contributions to the Austin Trenum Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 389, Manassas, VA 20108 or they may be dropped off at Brentsville District High School. Please sign the guestbook at www.bakerpostfh.com.

I am very sorry for your loss, although I'll never feel it like you do. It will soon be a year since my 18 year old nephew died due to complications from Muscular Distrophy. My sister (back in my country) tells me it hurts even to breathe. He couldn't play sports, and was carried by his mother everywhere, and cared for his younger sister in many things, yet he was and is a star in our lives. May the memory of your beloved son be an inspiration for you and your family as it is for us. Hebrews 12:1-3
