Brian Ivan Gomez Brian Ivan Gomez, age 20, passed away on October 13, 2010 following a year-long battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a rare cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gildardo Gomez and his sister, Michelle Gomez. Brian, who was born in Los Angeles, California on May 24, 1990, grew up in Prince William County. He attended Minnieville Elementary, Godwin Middle and Gar-Field High School, where he graduated in 2008 as an International Baccalaureate Scholar.

He was currently a second year student at the University of Virginia, where he was majoring in Economics and International Relations. His greatest joys were tennis, playing the guitar, hanging out with friends (especially his girlfriend, Morgan Watts), and spending time with family, but his love of learning sustained him. Brian is survived by his loving family, his mother Adriana Mariscal; his step-father, Alejandro Casta¤eda; his brother, Adam Alexei Casta¤eda, his grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will miss him greatly.

A viewing was held on Saturday at the Occoquan Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home on Occoquan Road. A Memorial Service to celebrate Brian's life will be held on Sunday, October 17th, at 2 o'clock at the First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City on Minnieville Road. A reception at the church will follow. Burial will be at Covina Hills Cemetery, Los Angeles, California.

Yo soy padre de dos hijas y no puedo imaginar su sufrimiento. La vida es tan delicada, mi esposa de 19 anos tiene una condicion incurable y por un ano e visto como le a afectado a nuestras hijas , ella, y yo. Sin embargo, todavia esta con nosotros. Lo que nos a ayudado como familia son las promesas de nuestro Padre celestial. En Su libro la Biblia, contiene un sin numero de esperanza. Isaias 33:24 nos garantiza que en el futuro ningun residente dira estoy enfermo. Yo anhelo ese dia. Tambien Revalacion 21:4 explica que el dolor no existira y la muerte sera eliminado para siempre. Finalmente la biblia nos promete una resurreccion de nuestro seres queridos. Es possible? Si. El siervo de Dios Job pregunto: Si un hombre [...] muere, ¿puede volver a vivir?. Job hablaba de que esperaria en la tumba hasta que llegara el momento en que Dios se acordara de el. Por eso le dijo a Jehová: tu llamaras, y yo mismo te respondere. Por la obra de tus manos sentiras anhelo(Job 14:13-15).
