Marvin Solomon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Woodbridge on Dec. 13, 2025.
Marvin Curtis Solomon, a devoted father, leader, and man of unwavering faith, was born in Americus, Georgia, and resided in Woodbridge, Virginia. He entered into eternal life on December 8, 2025. Marvin lived a life defined by service, integrity, and a quiet warmth that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
For over 24 years, Marvin served in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major through extraordinary discipline, relentless excellence, and a deep commitment to those he led. After retiring from active duty, he continued his work in Force Protection with the Department of the Army, earning immense respect for his expertise, leadership, and calm presence. For two decades, he carried the honor of helping protect our nation's presidents, dignitaries, and their families.
Across more than 46 years of service, both in and out of uniform, Marvin lived by values that guided every decision: loyalty, hard work, generosity, and care for others. His journey carried him to five continents, collecting stories he loved to share, while remaining grounded and deeply connected to the people he loved.
Marvin's faith shaped every part of his life. As a Senior Deacon and dedicated member of the Gentlemen's Ministry, Impact Sign Team, Temple, Sanctuary Setup, Leadership, and the Men's Choir at Impact Church, he led quietly by example, supporting others with prayer, encouragement, and a steady presence.
At home, Marvin was a proud father. He found joy in simple pleasures: watching classic Westerns and comedy shows, working out, serving in his church, and cheering for the Falcons and Hawks no matter the scoreboard. He loved being silly - dancing offbeat, singing badly, and joking playfully - which always brought laughter to those around him. Brilliant, protective, funny, and warm, Marvin brought light and strength into every room.
He cherished the people who shaped his life, beginning with his mother, Alma Ruth Solomon. He held close the memory of those who passed before him: his father, Sam Taylor Solomon; his brother, George Solomon; and his grandparents, Mattie Bell Sanders, Bob and Carrie Sims-Solomon, and Al Dotson. His story is carried forward by his daughters: Lakeshia Solomon, Tiffany Solomon, and Amber Solomon. His brothers, Reverend Sam T. Solomon Jr. (Brenda), Arthur Solomon, and John Timothy Solomon, and his sisters, Annie Walton Person (John), Virginia Chappelle, and Anita Solomon, also continue his legacy. Equally cherished are his extended family, and the friends, mentors, and colleagues who walked beside him through years of service, faith, and community - relationships he honored with deep gratitude, care, and love.
Marvin earned two master's degrees from Central Michigan University, an Associate of Science, and countless medals, trophies, and awards, reflecting his commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. He will be laid to rest with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to his life. His legacy is simple and powerful: serve well, stand firm, love deeply, and leave people better than you found them.

Marvin was a valued friend and I got to know over the years while working at the Military District of Washington (MDW). My memorable moment will be when he stepped up on the stage to give a force protection briefing wearing a wolf head. It was from that day forward he was fondly called "Wolf." A true professional who had my utmost respect. He was dedicated to doing his best. I will miss my friend. He is now with Our Lord to continue his eternal life. My prayers go out to his family.

"Just close your eyes, and you will see all the memories that you have of me. Just sit and relax, and you will find I'm really still there inside your mind. Don't cry for me now that I am gone, for I am in the land of song. There is no pain, there is no fear, so dry away that silent tear. Don't think of me in the dark and cold, for here I am no longer old. I'm in that place filled with love, known to you all as up above."~Author Unknown.

It was my honor and privilege to serve alongside you at the Provost Marshal Protection Directorate in the Military District of Washington. Your forward thinking and strategic planning saved countless lives. Rest in Paradise!
