Mays Claudine Walton Mays, age 99 of Manassas, Virginia died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the residence of her daughter.

Mrs. Mays was born August 21, 1911 in Macon, Georgia daughter of the late Walter F. and Lyde (Smith) Walton. She was a member of Manassas Church of Christ. She taught many Bible Classes for over 50 years. She was a volunteer at Woodbine Nursing Home for 25 years and was voted the Volunteer of the Year in Virginia during the 1980's.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse F. Mays and one grandson, Allen Ray White.

Survivors include three children, Sue Mays Redd and husband, Bobby of Atlanta, Georgia, Lyla Mays King and husband, Bob of Manassas, Virginia and Margaret Mays White of Alexandria, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Annie Mays Larmore (103 years old); eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2010 at Manassas Church of Christ, 8110 Signal Hill Road, Manassas with Barry Bryson, Minister and Ron Bordeaux, Minister officiating. Inurnment will be in Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to India Mission Fund, c/o Manassas Church of Christ, 8110 Signal Hill Road, Manassas, Virginia 20111 in loving memory of Claudine W. Mays. Condolences may be sent to www.piercefh.com.
