James, lovingly known by many as "RedDog," enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was a joking man who loved to make people laugh and always tried to brighten the day of those around him. He was a loving father, loving grandfather, uncle, and brother.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Michele Mays; his mother, Rose Moore; his father, James Mays; his stepson, Joshua Harris; and his nephew, Chris Mays.
James is survived by his children, Kristen Sturgill, Kayla Mays, and Christopher Cuneo. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Joshua Patton and Makynzi Patton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Care, 40 West 6th Street, Covington, KY 41011. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of James E. "Reddog" Mays, Jr., please visit our Tree Store.
